Pickleball equipment manufacturer is a madhouse. The most controversial of ideas seem to revolve around actually improving the paddles despite the fact that very little analysis has been done to investigate how much variation in performance between paddles there really is, especially in a purely material sense.
Technology is many things. It can be a distraction and an obsession or it can be a gateway to wonderful new developments. We believe that in a sport this new we should be first and foremost be trying to develop paddles that are a good basis for future development. One of the appealing features of pickleball to some people even is the variation of equipment. This is something that is lacking in many other sports. Variation of equipment is appealing and part of the sports recreational appeal and why it has such a wide range in terms of demographic.
The sport is that an important crossroads. One of the biggest weaknesses of the sport is just how little understanding and how lopsided knowledge and assets are. We should also not take ourselves too seriously but should understand that the decisions we make now even the small ones will have consequences in the future.
