The UPA without really even having any public standards or credibility has gone ahead and certified the most controversial paddles ever made. The Joola Gen 3 series. No doubt considering the lab associated with this organization is much more compliant than Element Space and Defense, the current standards lab for paddle testing.

IIt's interesting to note the highly subdued flash the UPA uses and the NFC indicator directly below it. Aside from charging you 100K a year to join the club they're going to make sure it's very exclusive.

Is it a surprise that the nightmare Joolas got approved first? No way it has BJ's name on it. Is it surprising that PPL or hypothetically whatever body tested it past it? Ask yourself. PPL is a lab that only tests pickleball paddles. If my paddles are to be tested I want someone to test them who does not play Pickleball and does not know about brands and does not have friends that play Pickleball especially ones that are involved in a professional level.

RFC is old hat anyway. I guess it may be new to these guys but it's been around for a long time. It's incredibly vulnerable and it's going to be exploited to its maximum. Will other UPA manufacturers require NFC?

Anyway we'll see how long this one stays on the market.
